Baby Bluebirds

Five baby bluebirds were found in
a box near the Nature Center in
late Spring.

White Snakeroot

In late August and early September,
masses of White Snakeroot
(Eupatorium rugosum) bloom on
either side of the Waterfall Trail.
The plant contains a toxin that if
ingested by cattle, poisons their milk.

Pandorus Sphinx Moth

A newly emerged Pandorus Sphinx
Moth (Eumorpha pandorus) rests
on a student’s hand on July 10.
The caterpillars of the moth feed on
Virginia Creeper and wild grape,
two vines abundant at Blackacre.
