Blackacre Has Something For Everyone

Come tour the historic farmhouse with our volunteer docents. Visit the beautiful barn, springhouse, smokehouse and other historic buildings. Make Blackacre your destination for a family-friendly hike or opportunity to bird watch.

Blackacre is open to visitors during the school year on weekdays from 3 pm to dusk and on weekends and school holidays from dawn until dusk. During the summer,  Blackacre will be open  from dawn to dusk every day.  The Presley Tyler House is open on Sunday afternoons from 1-5 pm April through October.  Programming scheduled for Sunday afternoons now; so check our website weekly for upcoming programming and mark your calendars!

At Blackacre, you’ll step back in time and feel the beauty of a historic homestead dating back to the days when Kentucky’s was a frontier wilderness, surrounded by the fields and forest of a nature preserve.  Spend a day exploring and you’ll find hiking trails, ponds, forests, fields, and streams in our scenic natural areas.  You’ll discover the homestead’s Appalachian-style double crib barn, the historic springhouse and the brick smokehouse, which you are welcome to tour.  You’ll see the stone cottage, which dates to the 1790s and the brick farmhouse, which was built in 1844.  Guests are also welcome to watch the horses, cows and goats.

We invite you to take a leisurely stroll through the homestead or a hike through the nature preserve.  Come for an educational program, lecture or attend a concert.  Whether your interest is in local history, architecture, natural sciences, beautiful scenery, gardening or the quiet enjoyment of the outdoors, Blackacre has something for you.
