The Blackacre Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead is a recipient of a grant from the Snowy Owl Foundation. Blackacre, in conjunction with Baltic Writing Residency, provides writers an opportunity to live at the Tyler House Homestead where they can begin or further pen poetry, plays, screenplays and books.

“We believe our rich, natural surroundings could be a catalyst for creative writing.

This past summer’s writers have included Dr. Lisa Nikolidakis, a writer and professor from Ball State. She is a 2016 recipient of the Best American Essays award for her work, Family Traditions. Other guests have included, poet Kisten Miller, playwright Amina McIntyre, sponsored by Spalding University, and screenwriter Michael Givens from Charleston, South Carolina.
