A BIG thank you to everyone who came out May 13th from 2-4pm for our Butterfly Garden Planting! We had a great crowd and a great time! Volunteers worked alongside our garden architect Jane with Jane’s Native Seed and assisted her in implementing her design, organizing and laying the foundation for our brand new Butterfly Garden.

The new 9,000-square foot pollinator garden will feature over 60-species of Kentucky native plants to create a diverse habitat for numerous honey and bumble bees and other endangered pollinators including butterflies. Bees which pollinate much of the U.S. food supply are dying off at an alarming rate.

A big thank you to  Louisville Metro Council members Stuart Benson, Kevin Kramer, and David Tandy (Barbara Sexton Smith now represents the 4th District).  Designed by Jane Harrod with Jane’s Native Seed, this area will become eventual home for a variety of pollinators including butterflies, honey and bumble bees.  Youth-Build Louisville provided construction as a hands-on job training in construction trades.

This beautiful garden will be a part of the community for generations to come! Stay-tuned for more details on our grand opening of the Butterfly Garden and Pavilion!

For those interested in joining us we will be doing a second planting session this Saturday May 20th from 2-4pm. We hope to see you there!
